Welcome to Part 2 in the essential tool series. Today Karl will go through the essential tools we recommend to install or upgrade your DC off-grid battery, solar and general electrical system in a campervan, RV, motorhome, carvan or tiny home.*
*Please note: Our van is 100% 12V Direct Current (DC). We currently only have a small plug-in 150W inverter that we very rarely use for odd chargers that we don't have a DC adapter for. Almost all of our appliances, including laptop computers, are charged from DC-DC chargers.
If you plan to install AC electrical system in your van, more than just a DC-AC inverter, you may require additional tools. You will also, by law in most countries, require the installation to have an RCD installed and be signed off and certified by a licensed electrician should you decide you require AC power.
There are three videos in this series:
1. Essential tools for van conversions
2. Essential tools for van electrical systems (this one); and
3. Essential tools for life on the road
