I replaced Google with ChatGPT for a day and tested both with the kinds of searches I actually use. I compared them across four real-world tasks: • Current information • Shopping research • Local search • Deep research Same questions. Same conditions. Google was faster in several tests and still has a big advantage for live prices, maps and local information. ChatGPT took longer, but was often better at turning lots of information into a clear answer and helping me make a decision.
