How did Shackleton's men survive the Antarctic winter, with their ship frozen into the sea and no one in the world knowing where they were? Settle in for this history for sleep and spend a whole polar winter, 1915 to 1916, with the twenty eight men of the Endurance: tea at four o'clock in a room they called the Ritz, snow kennels for sixty nine sledge dogs, emperor penguins that bowed to the crew, a sun that set twice in one evening, the long night under the moon, the ship's last days in the ice, months on a drifting floe, and a second winter in a hut made from two upturned boats on Elephant Island. And every one of them came home. Every detail comes from Ernest Shackleton's own book, South (1919), built from his diary and the diaries of his men, with the real photographs of Frank Hurley, taken on the ice in 1915 and 1916. No invented heroes, no gore, no jump scares: just a calm voice, quiet wind and fire, and a story that keeps moving. Ads only in the first 25 minutes. The screen slowly dims after the first hour, and the last minutes are quiet. Where are you listening from tonight, and what time is it there?
