What happens when a university lecturer, a biomedical science grad, a business major and an arts student all end up in the same profession? In this Teach For Australia Alumni Q&A, host Dr Bruce Verity talks with three program graduates for an honest, unscripted conversation about what it actually takes to become and stay a science teacher. Meet Mitch Smith (Cohort 2012), a former biomedical science graduate who left teaching for banking, consulting, and tech before finding his way back to education. Ghada Elarnaout (Cohort 2024), now a science learning area lead at a border-town secondary college and Alison Eslake (Cohort 2021), who traded a city of 5 million people for a town of 5,000 and never looked back. 📌Teach For Australia is a not-for-profit placing passionate people in schools serving low socio-economic communities and supporting them to become great teachers and leaders while earning a real salary and a postgraduate qualification. Since 2010, over 1,200 Associates have taught in 300+ schools across Australia.
