Essay Writing is not a random paper; it must be treated like a separate subject. In this first lecture of the essay-writing scheme, Sir Shahan explains how CSS, PMS, PCS and other competitive-exam aspirants should start essay preparation with a proper plan instead of picking random topics. Google Drive Folder for Essay Writing Materials: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder... ------------------------------ WHAT THIS LECTURE COVERS ------------------------------ The two main essay problems: what to write and how to write Content vs structure in CSS, PMS and PCS essay papers Why grammar and sentence structure matter for essay writing Why essay preparation should be treated like a full subject How repeated themes appear in past essay papers Why students must prepare 10 to 15 major themes comprehensively How to build a knowledge base before writing full essays General themes, Pakistan-specific themes and abstract themes How to prepare notes, data banks, examples and references ------------------------------ MAIN ESSAY THEMES DISCUSSED ------------------------------ Sir Shahan explains that aspirants should build background knowledge on the rise of the West, major world events after 1900, the United Nations, globalization, nationalism, capitalism, socialism, democracy, populism, climate change, war and peace, social media, technology, artificial intelligence, women-related themes, Pakistan-specific issues and abstract topics. The lecture also explains that a student should not panic in the exam hall if preparation is done theme-wise. When readings, notes, examples and structures are ready, the candidate enters the paper with confidence instead of fear. ------------------------------ WEEK 1 READING PLAN ------------------------------ Monday: The Ascent of the West, 1450 to 1780, from A Short History of the World by Christopher Lascelles. Tuesday: The Modern Period, 1780 to 1900, from the same book. Wednesday: 1900 to the present, from the same book. Thursday: Historical context and international history from Global Politics by Andrew Heywood and The Globalization of World Politics by John Baylis, Steve Smith and Patricia Owens. The purpose is not to memorize every king, queen or minor event. The purpose is to understand the broad historical context that later helps in current affairs, global politics and essay content. ------------------------------ LECTURE TIMESTAMPS ------------------------------ 00:00 Introduction to essay preparation 00:32 Two essay problems: content and structure 01:05 Essay structure and grammar support 01:14 Where students should get essay content 01:18 Past papers and repeated themes 01:34 Preparing themes holistically 01:44 Treat essay as a separate subject 02:14 Major general essay themes 02:25 Rise of the West and world history 03:07 Why historical context builds knowledge 03:46 UN, globalization, nationalism and ideologies 04:03 Climate change, war, peace, technology and women 04:32 Pakistan-specific essay themes 04:42 Why confidence comes from preparation 05:26 Week 1 mentorship work 06:17 Monday reading: Ascent of the West 06:32 Tuesday reading: Modern Period 07:17 Wednesday reading: 1900 to present 07:40 Comparative reading method 08:05 Thursday reading from Andrew Heywood and Baylis 08:41 Why different writers open your mind 09:03 Drive materials and PDFs 09:16 Exact chapters to read 10:56 International history 1900 to 1999 11:30 Historical context in Global Politics 12:27 Highlighting and reading without panic 12:43 Weekly closing ------------------------------ RELATED ZAANTH LINKS ------------------------------ English Grammar:    • Mastering English Grammar   Narration:    • Pakistan Affairs for Competitive Exams   All Playlists:    / @zaanthinstitute   Channel:    / @zaanthinstitute   ------------------------------ CONNECT ------------------------------ WhatsApp Group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/K5n1cTZmgQh...
