Pachelbel | Historic 1746 Lochtum Organ I present my recording of the choral partita "Herzlich tut mich verlangen", a work in 7 variations composed by Johann Pachelbel. This release is part of a meditative journey through the composer's works linked to the universe of Musicalische Sterbens-Gedancken ("Musical Thoughts on Death", 1683). Composed under the weight of loss and the devastation of the plague in Erfurt, the piece is a profound contemplation on mortality and hope. The interpretation rejects metronomic rigidity and the tyranny of fixed bar-line accents. Time is not measured by mathematical beats, but guided by agogic flexibility, the shaping of sound masses, and a deep respect for decay, the natural acoustic fading of sound within the church's architecture. Accompanying the audio, the visual identity in high-contrast black-and-white photography reflects this same atmosphere, where the play of light and shadow evokes gravity, spatial depth, and inner solitude. The audio was captured in a single unedited take. The instrument featured is the remarkable 1746 baroque organ (anonymous builder) of the Evangelische Dorfkirche Sankt Maria in Lochtum (Lower Saxony, Germany), preserved with 13 original stops and tuned to A4=448 Hz.
