Chapter 13 is cleared in 1 turn (48 total). Challenge playlist:    • Fire Emblem Awakening HM - 0% growths in 7...   Tonic use: Cherche - str, spd Frederick - str A short chapter meaning the tonic use is far more restrained than usually, which my funds do appreciate in a run like this. After a nigh endless rout-objective earlygame, we get to the point where bosskill-objective maps take over and dominate about as much as rout maps did before. What I can say, Awakening follows Shadow Dragon and New Mystery in the FE timeline and as such it's no great surprise that its objective variety is somewhat lacking (something Fates fixed). The first two rout maps do happen to be the easiest ones by far too. The bosses aren't far away in another section of the map, separated by dangerous enemies who outstat your army heavily - they're actually close enough to travel to without the need of (multiple) Rescue staff uses! In this map, we can get to the boss with the help of a single dance from Olivia, but the bosskill must happen on player phase if we don't want Olivia to be targeted first (and killed!) when EP begins. The boss is rather bulky much to our chagrin, our newly promoted Sage Anna being the closest one by far to naturally 2HKOing the boss. However, I don't find Anna to be a good recipient of experience at this point - Rally Magic may indeed find use later on (such as to give Levin Sword Say'ri more attack power? idk), but it's nowhere as effective as the skills the other units get. Ideally, I would kill the boss with Cordelia, but as a lance-locked unit with low strength, she can't really pierce his high physical defence. Cherche is a worthy second candidate - when she gets to lv. 5, she can travel an additional 2 tiles per turn, which, if not turn-saving, can give us more freedom in terms of how to approach the enemies and navigate the maps. Since Cherche is getting danced anyway, the first strike she lands should go towards obtaining a Silver Axe from the Warrior in front of the boss. Nobody's got the axe rank to wield it yet, but Frederick and especially Cherche (since she's not using any other weapon types) can realistically get there sometime soon and actually use the weapon to ORKO or at the very least dent things. I do something a little bizarre with Cordelia's only action on this turn. I've mentioned her low strength being an issue before (she doesn't mind it only when she's wielding the Beastkiller and the target of the attack is a cav), but she's getting very close to lv. 5 and with it Rally Speed - and it's so obvious that this is one of the most important skills to be learnt on this run, as +4 speed to multiple units in great range can be pretty game-changing. So Cordelia has to rely on dual attack with Frederick proccing a Killing Edge crit - that's two procs in one. To make it happen, I have to give Fred a strength tonic (otherwise he's short of the OHKO coupled with Cordy's silver lance damage) and I also have Sumia ferry Tharja west so that she lowers the sniper's critical evade a bit with Anathema. This is the closest Sniper in Cordelia's range and the only promoted enemy she can reach without compromising Cherche's bosskill attempt. Longbow and Silver Bow that two of the other bow users drop when killed have their owners positioned too far away, and nobody can wield those weapons anyway. Ricken and Chrom both get to promotion level in this map. Ricken needs to chip in for the final portion of exp, while Chrom needs to get an entire kill. There's no rush to promote either - Ricken shouldn't be fielded when it isn't his time to Rescue (by which point he MUST be promoted) while Chrom only needs to be a Great Lord for the Validar bosskill, though with him being forced in every map you might say having him promoted is always at the very least not worse than not. I think a promoted Chrom with an A rank support with Fred also gives the latter +7 speed on pair-up? Fred's been doing less and less due to his 10 base speed, so there may be use in that. What else to say... Cherche getting str and spd tonics increases her success with critblicking both the warrior and the boss. The Frederick dual crit proc is unreliable enough already, but this is such a short chapter that it makes sense to take everything it offers while using up as few resources as possible. Henry and Lucina join here, with respectable stats and become the 5th and 6th unpromoted units that could want a Master Seal from us (we'd go broke all too quickly if we bought one for all six right away). Let's talk about them some other time.
