In my 2008 recital 《Mignon Fantaisie》, I chose Hsiao Tyzen’s Fantasia for Flute and Piano — “The Lone Reflection by the Lake” as the closing piece. This fantasia weaves together profound lyricism with restrained intensity. Like a quiet landscape, the surface appears still, yet beneath it lies a subtle current of solitude and emotional depth. Returning to this piece years later, it becomes more than a memory — it is a renewed reflection. Time reshapes the weight of sound, allowing each note to carry what once remained unspoken.
