Prince Dared Dolly Parton to Play Banjo Live — Prince FROZE, Then Went SPEECHLESS

March 1987. A packed Nashville arena. Twenty thousand fans. Prince walks onto Dolly Parton's stage uninvited, microphone in hand, and dares her to prove she's a real musician, live, in front of everyone. Weeks earlier, he had told a magazine she was "a performer, not a musician." Now he wanted her to answer for it. What Dolly did next turned the whole night upside down, and Prince froze on stage. This is the story of a secret Dolly Parton carried for thirty years. An old cracked banjo from the porch of a two-room cabin in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. A song her mother used to hum when there wasn't enough food on the table. And the four minutes that made Prince, the man who played every instrument on his own records, completely rethink everything he thought he knew about her.
