The Nutting Girl - Morris Jig - Field Town

The Nutting Girl jig danced by Phil Preen. To the music of Eric Foxley of Foresters Morrismen. I downloaded the mp3 from their website, although I did slow it down a little, as I prefer to dance a little bit slower. This is probably one of the most commonly danced morris jigs. It is not particularly difficult, but not the easiest one to start with as it has a long chorus figure. It is very good for practising your long and short sidesteps though. If you are familiar with the Field Town tradition, you should be able to learn this dance fairly easily. Please get in touch if you would like notes on learning this dance. As with any dance, there are minor variations, which come from team style, or personal preference for solo dances. For the capers at the end, it is more common to use the slow down and up hand movements, rather than the side twists I have used here. I had intended to do the more standard version, but forgot and reverted to Anstey Morris style without thinking :-)
