Kim is one of her family members leading renewed efforts to finally bring Melanie home after more than 35 years. On October 27, 1989, Melanie was days away from her 15th birthday. She was invited to a local party spot behind an industrial park in Woburn with older high school students. She told her grandmother she’d be staying with a friend so she could stay out late. As the party was winding down, Melanie was among the few remaining kids there. She was seen in the company of two older boys, two boys who told the police the other was with her last. Melanie's family believes those boys know a lot more about what happened in the woods that night. Despite the three decades that have passed, Melanie’s family has never stopped searching and never stopped seeking answers. Her cousins Billie‑Sue and Kim continue to push for those answers, to generate new leads, and keep Melanie’s story in the public.
