Why did Jonah really run from God? Not fear. In Jonah 4:2, the prophet tells us himself: he ran because he knew God would be gracious and merciful to Nineveh, the capital-class city of the empire that had made Israel kneel. In this Bible study we walk through the whole book of Jonah, from the ticket he bought to Tarshish to the shelter he built east of Nineveh, and follow one Hebrew word, ra'ah (evil, disaster, misery), as it moves from the city into the heart of the prophet himself. We'll see why the book ends with a question that never gets answered, why its last words are "and also much cattle," and how Jesus, the one "greater than Jonah," answers the story from another hill east of another great city. If you've ever been angry that God was kind to someone who hurt you, this story was written for you. 📖 SCRIPTURES IN THIS VIDEO Jonah 1–4 · 2 Kings 14:23–27 · Exodus 32:14; 34:6–7 · Deuteronomy 18:22 · 1 Kings 19:4 · 1 Samuel 10:6 · Matthew 12:38–41 · Luke 19:37–42 · Ephesians 4:9 · Acts 10 · Nahum 🔔 Subscribe for more deep, honest walks through the Bible:    / @ancientbibleepics   💬 Leave a comment: if there's someone you've been waiting for God to judge, you don't have to name them.
