In this model railway layout update, I’m making more progress with the track, testing iTrain automation, and getting several trains running automatically around the layout. The Pullman has now been programmed into iTrain so it can run automatically, while the E7 is being tested on the Japanese section of the layout. I’m also continuing to lay and weather track around the station, including the new point and track leading towards the island platform. I also test different methods for creating the yellow line along the platform edge, including paint pens and tape, before going back to tape after some problems with paint bleeding. There’s also an interesting discovery about the future European section of the layout. I’ve decided that it will be based on Switzerland, which means the European layout will also operate on the left-hand side. I also discuss Swiss-style railway signals and how trains can potentially be routed around a failed train or blocked section. The E7 is put through several iTrain stopping tests, with the stopping position adjusted so the train arrives correctly at the platform. This demonstrates how iTrain can use block information, platform length and train length to position trains accurately. 🚆 Topics covered in this video: Model railway track laying iTrain model railway automation Programming trains in iTrain E7 Japanese model train Pullman model train Model railway station platform Track weathering Model railway point installation Fiddle yard construction Model railway block detection Swiss railway modelling Railway signalling Automatic train stopping Model railway layout progress The next target is to add the remaining block and point units, get the new track wired, and bring it into iTrain. The goal is to have this stage completed by the end of the year.
