#KennyRogers #DollyParton #johnnycarson Dolly Parton thought she was sitting down for a routine interview with Johnny Carson. But when Carson asked what she really thought about Kenny Rogers, Dolly gave an answer nobody expected, with millions of people watching. She didn't attack him. She simply told the truth as she saw it: Kenny Rogers was the greatest storyteller in music, and he had never once told his own story. But two floors below the studio, Kenny was watching. He heard every word. Instead of sending a publicist the next morning, Kenny picked up a borrowed guitar, walked up two flights of stairs and stepped out from behind Johnny Carson's curtain, unannounced, on live television. What followed wasn't the feud everyone expected. It was the most honest moment of Kenny's career, and the real beginning of one of the most beloved friendships in country music. 📺 In this video: The question Johnny Carson asked Dolly about Kenny Rogers. Why Dolly said Kenny "sings everybody's story but his own." What Kenny heard on a little TV two floors down. The tense moment Kenny sat down beside Dolly on the couch. The one song Kenny wrote himself and refused to sing for years. What Johnny Carson confessed during the commercial break. How one honest conversation changed the rest of Kenny's life. This video is a dramatized retelling inspired by the lives and careers of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon, Burt Reynolds, Lionel Richie, Porter Wagoner and Barry Gibb.
