Why Trinitarians Refuse to Believe John 17:3 - “The Only True God” (Hint: False Dichotomy Fallacy)

#Jesus #OnlyTrueGod #Trinity When Trinitarians are confronted with John 17:3, where in prayer to his God and Father (John 20:17) Jesus explicitly teaches the Father is “the only true God,” they reject Jesus’ teaching and instead ask, “Is Jesus a true g/God or a false g/God?” This, of course, completely ignores what John 17:3 teaches and presents in its place a false dichotomy, or an either-or-fallacy, as if only two options exist. The fact is, another option or meaning for “true” and “false” exists in the Bible to show what is meant by calling the Father “the only true God,” that is, without the sons of God, whom God and Jesus teach are “gods,” being false gods. In what sense, then, are Jesus and the other sons of God “gods,” like Jesus teaches?—John 10:33-36; Psalm 82:1-6. This video considers several other examples of the Greek word for “true” (ALETHINOS) to show clearly just what Jesus meant, and what the Bible means, when it calls the Father, the sons of God, and others “God” or “gods.” Because Trinitarians reject biblical theology, they are forced to present a logical fallacy as their only way out of the plain meaning of text of John 17:3.
