The African Dream - All The Same Family (OLD SCHOOL HOUSE / CLUB CLASSICS)

Oomph! They don’t get much more solid than this! From a great album but this is the standout track for me. I remember playing this at the Fez Club in Sheffield. For those that don’t know, the Fez club used to be Occasions, which is my favourite ever club, the place that shaped my youth and taste in music. For me, it’s a legendary place so to be able to dj there was a big thing for me. The dj set up was slightly strange but it kind of worked, it wasn’t so much a dj booth but a dj room with a window that looked out on to the dance floor. It wasn’t a fancy club, it was designed for the music to be the focal point. The dance floor took up the majority of the place with a few seated areas, it was dark and had a capacity of maybe around 5-600 people, it had a strobe, a smoke machine and huge speakers on the dance floor. Perfect! I clearly remember being in the booth, looking out of the window and dropping this, the place went off and that feeling of getting the club rocking in a club I’d once dreamed of djing at was hard to beat. Whenever I hear this track I instantly think of that moment.
