#Untold History#History Stories#Forgotten History In 1302, a Flemish cloth weaver killed a French knight, and the townsmen hung the dead men's golden spurs in a church like hunting trophies. It was one battle, and it looked like a fluke. Over the next two hundred years, though, the world kept changing around the knights, one battlefield at a time. This is the story of what happened to the men who were raised for a single job when that job stopped working. To tell it, we follow the Valcourts, an invented Norman family. Their story is fictional, but each moment they live through happened to real people: archers cutting down the French charge at Crécy, the mud and the crush at Agincourt, the ransoms that quietly bankrupted noble families, the cannons at Castillon, and the gunfire at Pavia that captured a king. Along the way, we look at: How a knight was trained, and what it really cost to become one Why English knights won by getting off their horses How ransom, armor, and taxes reshaped the nobility The cannons that brought down castle walls in 1453 The Swiss pikemen and the end of Charles the Bold Bayard, "the perfect knight," killed by a gun he probably never saw What knights became: landowners, officers, courtiers, and lawyers The joust that killed a king, and the book that turned knighthood into a joke Where the sources disagree, or a famous story may have been polished over time, I say so. If you were raised for one thing and it stopped mattering, what would be left of you? Tell me in the comments. #MedievalHistory #Knights #HundredYearsWar #Agincourt #Crecy #HistoryDocumentary #MilitaryHistory #Storytelling
