626 meters above the Beipan River. The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in southwest China is the highest bridge ever built, rising 626.01 meters above the canyon floor. But building a road at this height wasn't simply a matter of making a bridge taller. Engineers had to conquer sheer limestone cliffs, extreme wind, enormous forces, difficult construction access, and a 1,420-meter main span suspended above one of the deepest gorges in China. In this video, we explore the insane engineering behind the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge — from the foundations and towering structures to the massive suspension cables and steel truss deck that now carries traffic hundreds of meters above the Beipan River. How do you build a bridge where there is almost nowhere to build? And how do you make sure it stays standing once the construction is finished? This is the story of one of the most extreme engineering projects ever attempted. Welcome to Titan Grid — where we explore the world's biggest megaprojects, most incredible engineering feats, and structures pushing the limits of what humans can build.
