THE BEST TOPWATER BITE OF THE YEAR?! | Rush Lake Tournament of Champions – Day 1

Day 1 of the Tournament of Champions on Rush Lake is officially in the books! 🔥🎣 Michael and I went into this tournament ready to stick with what we found during pre-fishing—and that meant going old-school jungle fishing in heavy cover with buzzbaits, frogs, and other topwater baits. And WOW… the morning bite was absolutely insane. We put together a limit in roughly the first 45 minutes and had more than 17 pounds in the boat after the first hour. We also caught two absolute giants—a largemouth just under 4 pounds and another just under 5 pounds. But after that incredible start, the bite completely disappeared. For the next six hours, we struggled to put anything else in the boat. We finally got one HUGE key bite in the middle of the day when I caught a 3.5-pound largemouth on a frog, pushing our bag from around 17 pounds to more than 18. At the end of Day 1, we brought 18.44 pounds to the scales, which was good enough for 3rd place heading into Day 2. 🥉 Now we're fishing from behind and have one more day to make a run at the Tournament of Champions title.
