Malhamdale - A Walking Tour of Malham, Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove #englishcountryside #nationaltrust #visityorkshire #yorkshiredales #walkingtour #ukhiking #traveluk #malhamcove #janetsfoss #gordalescar #harrypotter Join me on this walk around Malhamdale - home to some of England's most dramatic limestone landscapes. The route took me firstly to Janet's Foss - a tranquil, fairy-tale woodland waterfall named after Janet, the queen of the local folklore and who is said to live in a cave at the back of the waterfall. Then it was on to Gordale Scar - a dramatic limestone ravine and glacial gorge formed over successive Ice Ages. The weather closed in at this point so I headed back to Malham village and had a look round Town Head Barn - an 18th century field barn restored by the National Trust. I then walked up to Malham Cove - a 260 foot high curving limestone cliff and natural amphitheatre which was formed over 12000 years ago by a giant waterfall carrying meltwater from retreating glaciers. It was then back to Malham for a final wander around. The weather wasn't great but it didn't detract from the beauty of the surrounding area. I hope you enjoy your virtual walk. DATE RECORDED: 17 September 2026 LOCATION: Malham, Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar, Malham Cove, Yorkshire Dales National Park WEATHER: Wet and windy with occasional sunshine ABOUT MY CHANNEL Welcome to 'Walking With Pearl The Collie'. Join me as I explore Great Britain on foot with my two border collies, Pearl and Flo. Maybe the walks will inspire you to get out and about - the British countryside is a very beautiful and unique place. If you're not able to access it, for whatever reason, then hopefully these walks will give you some 'virtual' enjoyment.
