Tracklist & song meaning:
0:00 Orange Oak - garden green eyes
“We were talking about how we inherit more than just objects from past generations,” Erik shares. “Trauma gets passed down too, and the song reflects how deeply those roots can run.” Filippa adds, “Identifying inherited pain is one thing; breaking the pattern is much harder. We often turn a blind eye to what we could actually do about it.”
2:52 Orange Oak - the alchemist
The song is a search for meaning. A desire for something real in the middle of emotional numbness, for guidance when everything feels like an endless spiral - and for someone, somewhere, who might have the answers we’re desperately looking for. It captures that vulnerable moment of feeling small and helpless again, like a kid, wishing there was a voice that could explain it all. Yet beneath that longing, there’s still a fragile hope: that things can change, that healing is possible, and that the future might still be open if we’re willing to wait and face what hurts.
6:09 Orange Oak - red sky at night
Some things draw you in before you even understand why. A feeling just under the surface - beautiful, a little dangerous. red sky at night is about that tension. The pull between warning signs and what we choose to follow anyway. Between instinct and silence. It’s about the moments that shake us — the ones that feel like omens, like something shifting in the air. Sometimes we have to dive into what scares us to find what’s real. Even if we don’t fully understand it, we know it means something.
9:02 Orange Oak - well, well, well
This song is a reflection on all the pain and anger we stow away. It’s about the instinct to quantify feelings; to explain why you’ve felt a certain way without letting people see quite the whole picture. Who’s to say they would understand it, anyway?
13:07 Orange Oak - wilder life
Falling for someone can be scary business. It can send you into fight-or-flight; frighten you into acceptance, or startle you into escape. ‘wilder life’ wrestles with this exact moment. The hunger for something new, something real. It's a love letter to the person you’ve been waiting for, but also a declaration of nervousness. As if up to this point, all you’ve been is a product of wilderness, now cautiously seeking common ground. Scared to death, but pushed by that fear to follow tracks and see where they lead.
