It was founded by Sri Dhruba Charan Panigrahi on the 26th of January 1997 on the occasion of Republic Day of India in Bhadrak, Odisha; to transcend all elite boundaries of its originated town (Bhadrak) and make Odissi dance and music accessible to people from all economic condition and social activities. The main motto of Saraswati Sangita Mahavidyalay is preserving the invaluable indigenous dance form Odissi to keep educating people on its importance in upholding our identity. A part from dancing, students here is trained under percussion Tabla, Hindustani Vocal. Moreover, theory classes for the development of Odissi aesthetics and a grooming class is also given on a regular basis.
