With Maya Boyd officially cast as Ororo Munroe in the MCU’s upcoming 2028 X-Men reboot, it's time to talk about what Marvel must get right. For decades, live-action X-Men movies have sidelined Storm, reducing an Omega-level goddess and brilliant tactician to a passive background character. JUSTICE FOR MY GURLLLLL We also need to have an honest, nuanced conversation about the casting itself. While I'm incredibly excited to see Maya Boyd take on this iconic role and bring a younger, fierce Storm to life, we also have to validate the exhaustion many dark-skinned Black women feel regarding colorism and the systemic erasure of dark-skinned representation in Hollywood adaptations.
