Note: Qu-Bit Chance and Frames are key elements in this random/generative piece, with self-patched Batumi contributing a lot, too. Frames is modulating four separate channels of CV, and is itself being “rotated” by a random LFO from Peaks. Many outputs of Chance are used to drive events and/or modulation. These modules are all amazing! Adding the lower Intellijel 7U case allows me to have them in the mix and it’s awesome.
Qu-Bit Chance and 4ms RCD drive all timing, such as it is. The pulse is very slow on this piece, and nothing directly musical is really locked to a set clock.
Leading drone Tides -) Warps -) Elements. Warps in Parasite tape delay mode. Tides SHAPE/SMOOTHNESS modulated by Frames. SLOPE modulated by an attenuated channel of Batumi. Elements parameters modulated by Peaks random LFO. BOW and BLOW exciters used for hissy/breathy “element”. Elements’ gate by Peaks in slow square LFO mode. Elements outs (the ultimate end of this crazy chain) into Sputnik final mix.
Gong/wood-block/etc. is Rings in FM mode. V/oct sequenced by O+C, Aeolian mode, triggered by Chance’s burst output with CV by Chance’s discrete output. BRIGHTNESS/DAMPING/POSITION modulated by Batumi Saw (freq modulated by another channel of Batumi Sine output). Direct out to Clouds #1 in normal/granular mode, with Position modulated by attenuated Batumi LFO. Outputs multed to 4ms SMR. SMR into Clouds #2 in looping delay mode. SMR rotate is the only thing actually on a regular clocked gate. SMR out to submix.
“Tweeting” is MI Ripples self-resonating. Resonance controlled by another channel of Frames. Frequency controlled by Function, with “both” modulation by a saw LFO from Batumi (synced with a slower sine from another Batumi channel), and Hang being self-triggered on EOC. Ripples is further self-FM’d by way of rectification by WMD Tool-Box (super handy module!)
Slow bass drum is Peaks triggered by a Batumi square LFO.
Metallic percussion is TipTop ONE triggered by Chance “rhythm” output, which itself is modulated by Chance’s blend output. V/oct by Chance’s “smooth” output. ONE output sent through 2hp Delay, with feedback modulated by another channel of Frames. Delay out to 2hp Verb, and on to submix.
(The mentioned “submix” is done in the 2M 6-channel mixer in the upper case, the outs of which are sent as a stereo pair to the Sputnik 6-channel mixer). Other stuff goes directly to the Sputnik. The combination is a very versatile mixing setup, esp when combined with the mixing capabilities of the Quadratts, Veils, Frames, etc.)
