While I Was Away (Off The Cuff - September 2026)

Usually on the 12th October I celebrate another year of being smoke-free but after 14 of those it’s kind of just the norm, so this year I’m celebrating my first mixtape in 20 years! I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve laced beats in the last 19 years since I stopped working. Muscle memory fades. The hearing is intact but the sense of how much to adjust isn’t quite. Not helped by having done this with my son’s freebie Air Canada headphones, which then broke half way through and forced me to scramble for a replacement. Virgin Airlines freebies - different transatlantic flight about 8 years ago - got me to the finish line with similarly poor sound quality. For old times' sake it was also recorded onto minidisc which dictated the duration. It is what it is. Anyway.. it’s a bit of fun to gauge the gap. Called "While I was away" because of the 20 year absence and contains a few big ones from that time and a few favourites from before. #vinylonly #lacingbeats #mixtape #house
