According to the police, the man had previously been involved in 20 criminal cases. A country-made pistol, a live cartridge and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from his possession. The incident took place during a police patrol in Rohini and once again highlights how routine checks can lead to the detection of suspected criminal activity. According to the Outer North District of Delhi Police, the action was carried out by the Samaypur Badli police team on October 11, 2026. Officers were patrolling near the DDA land close to Utsav Apartments in Sector 18, Rohini. During the patrol, they noticed a biker approaching from the Badli Underpass side. On seeing the police team, the rider allegedly attempted to flee. His suspicious behaviour immediately raised the officers' concerns. The policemen intercepted him and questioned him about his attempt to escape. However, he reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. During a personal search, the police recovered a country-made pistol and a live cartridge from his possession. What initially appeared to be a suspicious encounter soon turned into a more serious investigation. But the biggest revelation came when the police checked the motorcycle. According to the investigation, the bike was stolen. It bore registration number DL-11L-7881 and was linked to a theft case registered at North Rohini police station on October 3, 2026, under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This meant that the accused was allegedly riding a stolen motorcycle while also carrying an illegal firearm and ammunition. The accused was identified as Sachin, 26, a resident of Yadav Nagar in Libaspur, Delhi. Police described him as an active bad character (BC) of Samaypur Badli police station. According to police records, he had previously been involved in 20 criminal cases. This figure makes the case particularly significant. However, the police press release does not specify how many of these cases resulted in convictions. Being involved in a criminal case is not the same as being convicted by a court. Following the recovery, the police registered FIR No. 874/26 on October 11, 2026, under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act at Samaypur Badli police station. The operation was conducted by a team led by Inspector Shailender Singh Jakhar, with Head Constable Raju Ram and Constable Ashok as team members. The operation was carried out under the directions of Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range, Vijay Kumar, IPS, with the guidance of Additional DCP-I, Outer North District, Lokeshwaran R., IPS, and under the supervision of ACP Samaypur Badli, Firoz Alam. The investigation is now focused on determining whether Sachin was involved in other vehicle thefts or cases related to illegal arms possession. Police are also examining his criminal antecedents and checking whether the recovered motorcycle is connected to other theft cases. Investigators are further attempting to identify his associates and establish whether a larger criminal network was involved. The key question now is whether the investigation will uncover links to a wider vehicle-theft or illegal-arms network. With a stolen motorcycle, a country-made pistol, a live cartridge and a police-reported history of involvement in 20 criminal cases, the matter has moved well beyond a routine patrol encounter. The findings of the ongoing investigation will determine whether more people or cases are connected to the accused.
