Tournament Double Stuffers

This dive had a little bit of everything: great viz, tons of lionfish, pretty (and tasty!) shells, and me briefly losing my mind underwater. Early in the dive, a Goliath Grouper let out one of those deep BOOMS right next to me and scared the absolute hell out of me. I jumped, screamed through my regulator, and immediately abandoned any illusion that I look like I know what I'm doing down there. 😂 The Goliaths hung around semi-stalking me because apparently hunting lionfish wasn’t enough excitement for one dive. Meanwhile, Kelsey and I were absolutely cleaning up during the First Annual FWC Pensacola Lionfish Invitational. We both stuffed our ZooKeepers completely full of lionfish and finally had to head back up and send the rest of the divers down to get what we couldn’t carry. Somewhere in the middle of all that chaos, I also found a few beautiful lionspaw shells, because why not add a little treasure hunting to the circus? Honestly, this was probably my favorite dive of the trip. The viz was the best we had, the lionfish were plentiful, and I provided my own underwater sound effects. 10/10 dive. Dignity optional.
