The first firefighters at Chernobyl were carried into Pripyat's hospital on April 26, 1986. Their radioactive boots, jackets and helmets were thrown into the basement, and nobody has touched them since.
This Chernobyl documentary follows the firefighters who climbed onto the burning roof of Reactor 4: Lieutenant Volodymyr Pravyk, Lieutenant Viktor Kibenok, Vasily Ignatenko and their crews. We go inside Pripyat Hospital No. 126 (Medical-Sanitary Unit 126) on the night of the disaster, follow the men to Moscow's Hospital No. 6, and uncover why the hospital basement is still one of the most radioactive rooms in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, forty years later.
