Experience a tense, high-stakes night close air support mission over the rugged, pitch-black valleys of Afghanistan in this high-fidelity DCS World cinematic based on a fictional event. The year is 2002. Operation Enduring Freedom is underway, and coalition ground forces rely heavily on the vanguard of aviation assets operating out of austere forward bases. Marine Attack Squadron 513 (VMA-513 "Nightmares") has deployed a detachment of six AV-8B Harrier IIs to the harsh, high-altitude environment of an austere Afghan airfield to provide vital coverage. Operating under the cover of a shadowy midnight sky, a lone Harrier scrambles from the rugged runway. The original tasking: a routine, low-intensity armed overwatch to safeguard friendly movements. However, the calm of the night shifts when an urgent flash message diverts the jet to a nearby grid. A coalition special forces team preparing for extraction has stumbled upon a heavily fortified enemy fighting position directly overlooking their designated Landing Zone (LZ). With the team's extraction compromised and the threat looming over the LZ, the pilot must plunge into the dark valley. Relying on enhanced visual clarity from custom cockpit settings and Night Vision Goggles, the pilot coordinates a high-stakes "buddy lasing" strike with a hidden JTAC on the ground to neutralize the bunker. Watch the attack unfold from inside the cockpit, managing the unique flight dynamics of the Harrier to deliver precision ordnance at point-blank range before the SF team is compromised.
