Pit 1 is one of Northern California’s most unique whitewater runs. Located near Fall River Mills, this 7-mile stretch of the Pit River cuts through a rugged volcanic canyon, with basalt rock, powerful rapids, technical moves, and the spectacular Pit River Falls. The run is typically rated Class III–IV+, with a Class V waterfall that paddlers must scout and decide how to approach. The river starts with a mellow warm-up before transitioning into increasingly challenging whitewater, including narrow chutes, rocky ledges, and fast-moving rapids. The right-side slide at Pit River Falls offers an exciting alternative to the main waterfall for paddlers who choose that line. 📍 *Location:* Pit River, near Fall River Mills, California 🌊 *Difficulty:* Class III–IV+, with a Class V waterfall #PitRiver #Pit1 #WhitewaterKayaking #CaliforniaKayaking #ClassIV #Whitewater #NorthernCalifornia
