Genesis says God looked at the world He had made and was grieved to His heart. Then the rain began, and it did not stop for forty days. Only one family survived, inside a giant wooden box built by an old man on dry ground. In this documentary-style retelling of Genesis 6–9, we follow Noah from a world "filled with violence" to the building of the ark of gopher wood and pitch, the day "the Lord shut him in," the long silence on the waters, the raven and the dove with its olive leaf, the landing on the mountains of Ararat, and the first covenant sealed with a rainbow in the clouds. Interpretation and historical context, including the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, Hebrews 11:7 and Matthew 24:37-39, are clearly marked. Tell us in the comments: • Would you have believed Noah? • If God asked you to build something no one around you understood, could you keep going? • Is judgment easier or harder to understand when it comes with God's grief? • What does the rainbow mean to you?
