Maritime training in Florida with SOAL Marine: helocasting, water insertion, swims, small-boat launch/recovery, and Kraka jet boards, all connected on Wave Relay with MPU5s. We spent time with experienced maritime operators during some training evolutions. The helicopter drops people in the water, they swim, boats and boards pick them up, and then they do it again. Maritime work is hard on networks. People move between aircraft, water, boats, and shore. Platforms split up and come back together. There's no infrastructure offshore, so the network has to move with the team to support at their level as well as the broader combined arms operation. That's what Wave Relay is for. Each MPU5 is a node on the MANET, and the MANET adapts continuously. Voice, position, video, and other IP data all needs to run on the same network. Put an MPU5 on a Kraka board and the board becomes a moving node, carrying comms, position data, and IP-connected sensors gear across the water. What you see here is the team level, a few swimmers and a couple of boats. It's a small slice. Behind it is everything the camera didn't catch: aircraft, support vessels, shore elements, a command post, sensors, unmanned systems, and whoever is trying to make decisions from miles away. All of those pieces need the same thing the swimmers need, which is to know where everyone is and what's happening right now. When the team is on the same MANET as the rest of the operation, their position and video move up the chain and orders come back down, without a separate radio for every layer. A connected team is useful. A connected operation is the point.
