Cinematic portrait of two White-throated Dipper Cinclus cinclus fledglings learning to forage among moss-covered rocks at the waterfall and river edge. The video shows early-stage foraging behavior and vocalizations, and includes two slow-motion sequences — a fledgling begging and being fed water insect larvae (10:13), and a preening sequence (12:48). Adult taking a break, scratching, and keeping an eye out at 17:36. The fledglings bob and hop as they explore the river margins, probe sticks, leaves, and flowers, and make tentative forays into shallow water. They appear not yet to recognize prey, often picking at anything that catches their attention. A single adult delivers larvae while the young alternate between begging, resting, preening, and experimenting with potential food sources. Filmed at Fana waterfall and river on May 1, 2025 outside Bergen, Norway. The sequence of events is shown as they occurred, with changing light and intermittent rainfall. Norway's national bird, the Fossekall typically raises broods of 4–5 chicks. With only two fledglings present, the remaining brood may be elsewhere along the river with the mate, or the female may already be initiating a second clutch while the slightly larger male continues feeding the first brood.
