From Heights to Hearts | Zhang Xin & Payam Zamani | One Planet Summit

Zhang Xin, once called “the woman who built Beijing,” rose from working in Hong Kong factories to co-founding SOHO China, one of the nation’s largest real estate firms. Over two decades, she helped redefine China’s skylines and led the company through a $1.9B IPO. Now based in New York, Zhang is the founder of Closer Media, a production company devoted to showcasing meaningful stories. Its work includes Ezra, The Monk and the Gun, In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon, and upcoming projects like The History of Sound. Zhang’s journey—spanning global finance, architecture, faith, and purpose-driven filmmaking—offers a rare perspective on leadership, creativity, and the role of values in shaping our shared future.
