Seven names are cast into a bell on a hill in Halifax. This is the story of how they got there. On December 6, 1917, a burning ship drifted toward the Halifax waterfront while the city stopped to watch. On Kenny Street, a fourteen-year-old girl named Barbara Orr was watching from her family's bay window. A few streets away, a railway dispatcher named Vince Coleman had a telegraph key in front of him and a choice to make. No AI-generated images. • No photographs of the Orr family survive. Where the film shows the family, it uses period photos of other people, seen from behind. They are not the Orrs. A few other scenes (a schoolyard, a hospital, a bell, the 1980s crowd and choir) also use real photos of the same kind from other places. • The fire over Richmond at 10:07 is a composite: real film of fire placed over a real 1918 photograph of the view from Fort Needham. • The narration is an AI voice (ElevenLabs) reading our own researched script. The music is original.
