Mischa Maisky / Martha Argerich : Grieg and Shostakovitch sonatas in Paris 2008 (magnificent)

Mischa Maisky / Martha Argerich at Salle Pleyel, Paris, March 17th, 2008 Grieg : sonata for cello and piano in a-minor op.36 (camera angle is moving until ~2'30) Shostakovitch : sonata for cello and piano in d-minor op. 40 I just wanted to share something about this video. I uploaded most of these recordings between end of January and early March 2021 - as the national lockdown in the UK was so tough last winter and we were all stuck at home. I had realized that many of these videos/recordings were only saved on a computer drive or even on CD's/DVD's and were at high risk of being lost. For this particular recording I could only find the Grieg sonata but not the Shostakovitch - it seemed to be saved nowhere. When I was able to go to Paris for Easter 2021 I went to the cellar of my former apartment and I found a DVD of that concert in the middle of many other CD's I had left in Paris when I moved to London. It did contain the Grieg and Shostakovitch - however it seems that when I burnt the DVD the process had not been finalized, so when I tried to play it on a DVD player it would not read. I therefore sent the DVD to a professional video editing company here in the UK and they managed to extract the content of it with a special software. This particular video of the Shostakovitch cello sonata could easily have disappeared. I find it extraordinary so I hope you will enjoy it as well!
