The history of the alliance has been rewritten in Pulivendula, which the YS family has turned into a stronghold for almost five decades with anarchy, atrocities and attacks. The TDP flag has been hoisted on the Pulivendula municipality. The YSRCP has suffered a crushing defeat in Pulivendula, the home constituency of YSRCP President Jagan. The YSRCP, which has been anarchically contesting any election in Pulivendula so far, won only three wards in this election. The alliance won 37 wards along with the post of chairperson. TDP candidate Thugutla Geethakumari defeated YSRCP candidate and Jagan's younger brother Manohar Reddy's wife Prameela with a lead of 13,875 votes as the chairperson of Pulivendula. The alliance, which had previously won 20 wards out of the total 40 wards unanimously... won 17 of the 20 wards where elections were held (TDP 15, Jana Sena 1, BJP 1). Since Jagan's grandfather YS Raja Reddy entered politics in 1978, every election in Pulivendula has been one-sided! But unanimous... otherwise, one-sided elections with rigging. Even after it became a municipality in 2005, the YS family continued to dominate. After the alliance came to power in the state, the YS family received its first shock with the victory of the TDP candidate in the ZPTC by-election held there six months ago. Now it has lost control of the municipality as well. The alliance acted strategically from the selection of candidates in the Pulivendula municipal elections. Pramila, wife of Jagan's younger brother Manohar Reddy, contested this seat reserved for a general woman from the YS family. She is also the former chairperson. To contest against her, Geethakumari, wife of Madhusudhan Reddy from the Thugutla family, who had contested and won the councilor seat as an independent candidate with the support of Vivekananda Reddy against the YS family in the 2014 local body elections, was fielded. TDP constituency in-charge B.Tech Ravi and Jammalamadugu MLA Adinarayana Reddy (BJP) worked in coordination. With the alliance gaining unanimity in 20 places out of a total of 40 wards... the YSRCP has gone into a self-defense mode. There has been a large migration from the party to the TDP in areas where the YS family has a strong hold. With this, the TDP has gained momentum even in wards where it did not have even the slightest representation before. With the provision of security and assurance with a thousand policemen on polling day, people came out in large numbers and voted freely after many years.
