Where Will I Find You by Michael Chang for String Quartet Performed by the Friction Quartet: Otis Harriel, violin Kevin Rogers, violin Mitso Floor, viola Doug Machiz, cello San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College Composition Recital World Premiere April 4, 2026 Hume Concert Hall, San Francisco, CA Program Notes: "Where Will I Find You" begins in the key of C# minor, and explores some of the different emotions of a fictional story that I am working on about two people, forcibly separated by a great distance. Their only form of communication is through letters, hand-written mostly in the evenings. They wish to be together again, but remain apart. While peering into the night sky, both realize they are seeing the same stars, sharing the same moon which gives them comfort. Only through determination can their longing to reunite have hope.
