Desde o embarcadero (cais) de El Rompido atravessa-se para outro lado do Rio Piedras onde fica a *Flecha de El Rompido um extenso braço de areia natural e selvagem, com cerca de 13 km de comprimento, que cresce cerca de oitenta metros por ano, um paraíso natural protegido, com dunas e pinhais, conhecido pela beleza natural, tranquilidade El Rompido – Routes of Andalusia El Rompido is a coastal village located on the banks of the Piedras River, in the municipality of Cartaya, in Andalusia, Spain. Fishing was, for a long time, its main activity; tuna fishing with almadraba nets attracted many local and Portuguese fishermen. Currently, fishing still persists on a smaller scale, with tourism being the main economic activity, which developed in the early 1960s, with a marked growth in the second decade of the 21st century. The current village was founded in the 16th century, but there are indications that the area was used as a fishing settlement during the Roman Empire. The Islamic presence extended from the 8th to the 13th centuries during the Al-Andalus period. The El Rompido coastline has 14 km of beaches surrounded by pine forests, resorts, and golf courses. From the El Rompido pier, you cross to the other side of the Piedras River where you'll find the *Flecha de El Rompido*, an extensive, wild, natural sandbar about 13 km long that grows approximately eighty meters per year. It's a protected natural paradise with dunes and pine forests, known for its natural beauty and tranquility.
