How to create a Shopify store with AI, step by step for complete beginners. I connect Shopify to Claude, describe a small candle shop in plain words, and Claude adds the products, descriptions, prices and a collection for me. Then Shopify's free built-in AI helper, Sidekick, does the design. No coding at all. In Claude: Customize, Connectors, Discover, search Shopify, open "Shopify, Connector by Shopify", click Connect to Claude. 2. Start a new chat and describe your shop (prompt below). 3. When Claude asks to use a Shopify tool, click Allow once (or Always allow). When it says Authorization required, click Connect, sign in to Shopify (or create a free account), and click Install. 4. Answer Claude's questions. It adds your products and the collection. 5. Fix what the connector can't do: Settings, General, Store defaults, three dots, Change store currency. Rename the store under Store contact details. 6. For the design, open Sidekick (the face icon at the top right of Shopify) and describe the look you want. Open the theme editor when it asks, then click Save. 7. Add photos: Products, click a product, Media, Upload new, Save. Banner photo: theme editor, Hero, Image, Select, Add files, Done, Save. 8. Visit your store: Enter using password (find it in Online Store, Preferences). 9. To sell for real: Settings, Plan, Choose plan, then remove the password and set up payments. The prompt I used: I want to start a small online shop called Glow and Wick. I sell handmade soy candles. Please build me a Shopify store with 5 candles: Lavender Dream, Vanilla Bean, Fresh Linen, Cinnamon Spice and Ocean Breeze. Each one is 8 oz, burns for 45 hours, and costs 24 dollars. Write a warm, short description for each candle, put them all in a collection called Best Sellers, and give the store a cozy, calm look. My Sidekick prompt: Give my candle store a cozy, calm look. Use soft cream and warm beige colors, a gentle serif font for headings, change the homepage banner text to Hand-poured soy candles for slow, cozy nights, and show my Best Sellers collection on the homepage. Good to know: Glow and Wick is a made-up demo shop. It was never opened to the public, and the candle photos were made with an AI image tool. For a real shop, use real photos of your real products. Plan prices were correct when I recorded this, and the normal price depends on your country. The Shopify app only works in the store you connect. You can remove its access any time in your Shopify settings. Check every price and description before you sell.
