I Found the Perfect Riverside Campsite in the Sierra Nevada

Finding a peaceful campsite beside a mountain river was the only goal for this trip. I headed into California’s Sierra National Forest in search of the perfect riverside campsite along the South Fork San Joaquin River. With almost no off-roading and no rush to reach the next destination, this adventure was all about slowing down, enjoying camp, cooking by the river, exploring a new area on foot, and taking in everything the Sierra Nevada has to offer. Along the way I watched deer wander through camp, spotted fish in the crystal-clear water, crossed the river, and spent two relaxing days surrounded by granite peaks and towering pines. Sometimes the best trips aren’t about how far you drive they’re about finding a place you never want to leave.
