She was well known for popular hits in the late 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. She has sung in over 17 Indian languages and eight foreign languages. She is the recipient of many awards and honours, including the Padma Shri in 2011. Her biography, The Queen of Indian Pop: The Authorised Biography of Usha Uthup by Vikas Kumar Jha, translated by Srishti Jha (Penguin), traces the entire arc of Uthup`s career in music. Srishti Jha: Srishti Jha is a writer, editor, and translator. In the past 12 years, she has worked in the media with publications like the Hindustan Times and India Today, followed by translation and screenwriting projects. She has extensively covered art, culture, fashion, travel, heritage, languages, books, and human narratives in her work. She is currently working on her first novel. Anjana Sankar: Anjana Sankar is a senior journalist based in the UAE. She has more than 14 years of experience and has covered many events from the frontlines, including the Yemen war, the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh, the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe, and the 2018 Kerala floods.
