How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer (2005) | Trailer | Comedy Drama | America Ferrera

The entertaining story of three generations of women and their summer of bonding. As the sun slowly bakes in a sleepy Arizona border town, three generations of women from the same family go on a journey that will drastically alter their lives forever. Starting off the chain of events is Doña Genoveva (Lucy Gallardo), the Garcia family matriarch. She decides to buy a car on a whim, the only catch being she doesn’t know how to drive! When she enlists the help of Don Pedro (Jorge Cevera Jr.), the local gardener, long-forgotten pangs of desire begin to once again creep into her seventy-year-old bones. When her daughter, Lolita, (Elizabeth Peña,The Incredibles, Rush Hour), discovers there is more than roses growing in Doña Genoveva’s garden, she goes ballistic. Meanwhile, Lolita has hit a bit of a dry spell herself until things start to sizzle with married macho Victor (Steven Bauer,Scarface), but fails to notice the warm affection her butcher Jose Luis (Rick Najera,National Lampoon’s Pledge This!) has for her. As for the youngest of the Garcia girls, a radiant Blanca, America Ferrera (Real Women Have Curves), engineers an awakening all her own. Bored with the daily routine of small town life, Blanca is in desperate need of some excitement and spice in her life. Enter, Sal, (Leo Minaya, Manito), a young rebel who Blanca is instantly drawn to. A steamy romance blossoms into something much more than they expected. As the summer rolls on, the women realize that despite their differences, they share the same dreams, difficulties and desires, and learn to live and love to the fullest.
