http://www.timothyseaman.com/ My solo version I've been playing for about 13 years now of the Christmas Classic from the early 1800s, in a newly recorded video! The melody is by Franz Gruber, 1818, in Oberndorf, Austria (the same town 'The Happy Wanderer' was later written), and the words are by Joseph Mohr. The English translation, 1859, is by John Freeman Young: Silent night! Holy night! All is calm, all is bright Round yon virgin mother and child! Holy infant, so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace! Sleep in heavenly peace! Silent night! Holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight! Glories stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia! Christ the Saviour is born! Christ the Saviour is born! Silent night! Holy night! Son of God, love's pure light Radiant beams from thy holy face With the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord, at thy birth! Jesus, Lord, at thy birth!
