October 2026 Fall Burn

Fall burning is something I have tried to mix into the plan over the years. By having sections in different stages of growth, I believe it provides the perfect mix of native varieties and also offers various bedding cover when rotated properly. Kansas is king of the red cedar which is often a bad word to most. I like a good mix of cedars, but if left alone, can quickly take over and become nothing but predator cover. I want to provide something different as there are countless properties offering nothing but unmanaged cedar thickets. This 20-acre piece is one I am working to get the most out of. This is starting the process for someone who wants a quick getaway while having a chance at producing on a small property year after year.
