The Finals is not Underrated

Is The Finals dead, underrated, or right where it belongs? Three years after its explosive 242k peak launch, Embark Studios' chaotic arena shooter has settled into a steady, dedicated niche of 10k–12k concurrent players. But how did it get here, and why does its class balancing still feel so polarizing? In this unscripted deep-dive, we break down the massive player drop-off across extraction and free-to-play titles, the eternal tug-of-war between Light stealth/katana builds and Heavy cashout lockdown, and why the medium class often gets caught in the crossfire. Plus, we take a look at Embark's upcoming pipeline—including ARC Raiders—and whether The Finals still has what it takes to reclaim the mass market.
