Split screen version: road through the windshield on top, the wheel and pedals on the bottom. The standard 16:9 version is on my channel too.
Full drive on FSD (Supervised) v14.3 Lite in my 2019 Model S Raven on HW3, ending on a long unposted Humboldt County dirt road. The car seemed to think that county dirt road was a 70 mph zone, and since 14.3 Lite I can't set my own max speed anymore, so that wrong 70 carries straight through even in Sloth with a -20 offset.
Nevada has no default speed limit for unposted county dirt roads. The law requires a speed that's reasonable for the surface and conditions, and never over 80 mph (NRS 484B.600). The 70 posted on the paved road applies to that road only. Driver-assist speed limits come from map data and sign detection, and Tesla's manual warns not to rely on them to choose a safe speed. (https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-4...)
At 30:57 the car fishtails on the dirt. FSD dropped out on its own and went into its automatic slowdown on regen. I stayed ready instead of whipping the wheel, because I figured a hard correction at that speed would have put us in the bushes, and I put FSD right back on as soon as I could. Honestly it shook my confidence for snowy roads this winter.
Before anyone says FSD isn't meant for dirt roads: Tesla's manual says FSD (Supervised) can be used on any type of roadway and doesn't list dirt or gravel as off-limits, though it warns about debris, narrow roads, curves and poor weather (https://www.tesla.com/support/fsd). Tesla's v14.3 Lite release notes say FSD now determines speed from a mix of driver profile, speed limit and surrounding traffic, and the scroll wheel now adjusts the Speed Profile instead of my exact max speed offset (https://www.notateslaapp.com/software.... I believe the car's map data had this road at 70 mph; I haven't confirmed where that number came from. I'm responsible for my speed either way, and older versions handled this same road fine because I could set the max speed myself. Winter will put a lot of us on roads like this.
Also in this one: Sloth with a -25 offset still blowing past a 25 mph sign, the Turn Headlights On sign test, a school bus pass, a tire pressure check, and me timing every nag (13 to 15 seconds on 14.3).
Tesla team, if the map speed on a road is wrong, how do we report it?
