Vocal Strength Coach Reacts to BTS – FAKE LOVE | FIRST TIME

This one took me somewhere I genuinely wasn’t expecting. I went into the end of this reaction ready to make the same criticism I had with “Black Swan”: I do not understand why a group with voices this naturally gifted would lean on Auto-Tune. I associate that sound with singers who need help getting somewhere vocally, and BTS absolutely does not need that. Their natural voices sound fucking beautiful. But then something clicked. “FAKE LOVE” is about changing yourself, hiding parts of yourself, and becoming something artificial in order to maintain a relationship. So what if some of that artificiality in the vocals is actually part of the point? That completely changed the direction of my thought process. I still personally prefer hearing their natural voices, and there were moments where the processing pulled me out of the song. But there was much less of it here than in “Black Swan,” and I really enjoyed almost everything else: the beat, the message, the visuals, and the overall structure of the song. I’m trying to be honest with these reactions, even when that means criticizing something from a group I’m really starting to appreciate.
