Insane Metra and Amtrak Rush Hour Train Action at Chicago’s Famous Canal Street Crossing

If you are interested in more content from me, my photography can be viewed on Instagram at:   / rail_spike_productions   About this video: On July 23, 2025, I spent a portion of the later afternoon hours at the railroad crossing on North Canal Street in Chicago, IL to get footage of the busy weekday rush hour action that this crossing is known for. I stared the video with a bonus clip from slightly outside of rush hour, that being of Amtrak Borealis train 1333 led by P32-8BWH 519, a personal favorite model of locomotive on Amtrak’s roster. Following that shot is the Metra and Amtrak evening rush hour, featuring plenty of Metra double-headers and a few special appearances such as Amtrak F40PH NPCU 90221 leading the Hiawatha.
