00:00 (Introductions from Alex) 00:32 Daniel 26:13 Farm Sounds 42:32 Motherfucker, I am Both: "Amen" and "Hallelujah"... 59:21 Amen I haven't released a video for a couple of months, but here I am, back with this same ugly hand-drawn template that I have used on dozens of videos (though I have decided there is no need to change it at this point in my YouTube bootleg "career"), to present to you this wonderful, visceral and inconceivably loud performance by Shearling from last night. I have been to gigs in the intervening 2 months, but they haven't recorded that well, and admittedly, I haven't enjoyed the experience of them in the moment as much (even if the music was decent), so it was thrilling to be reminded during this gig the reason I adore live music so much, the sheer power/intensity of it at its best, the reason I venture out to these big cities on my own, and hey - I now have a reason to upload another video to the interweb. The last time I was at YES Basement was to see Hayden Pedigo in his first ever UK show in February 2024, which was a very different atmosphere - he said in that show he loves to "pummel/harm the audience with silence", and Shearling adopt quite the polar opposite approach of pummeling/harming the audience with NOISE, there were points in the show I noticed my audio recorder peaking, and thought this recording would be unusable - which thankfully was not the case. The maximum SPL/dB on the TASCAM DR-05 is 125, I have now found out, which is just below the pain threshold - I'm surprised my ears are not still ringing.
